How to accede to card SD
Writing on the LJP I realized of which, by defect, it is not possible to accede to the memory card SD of the Palm from the PC. An option is to copy the archives during the Hotsync to the main memory, and soon with a program like Filez, to move it to the card. But this becomes a slowness when the number of archives to transfer increases. In addition, PalmOS does not let copy archives that are not the specific ones for the platform, with extensions .prc or .pdb. Therefore, we would have to change the extension of each file that we want to copy, and soon to give back the original extension, once is in the PDA. Everything a nuisance.
For this reason, I am going to summarize the options that we must to make this task much more simple:
- First is does not dwell MP3 trick, a program that allows us to transfer direct files to card SD, when doing the Hotsync. We can even define in what folder will keep the file, based on its extension.
- For the case of transferring files MP3, the Real Player for PalmOS, also gratuitous, creates a conduit for Hotsync that allows to directly transfer our songs to the card.
- If we are arranged to spend a little money, exists a called program Softick Card Export II that turns our Palm into external a standard storage device USB, like the pencils USB that normally we took, which causes that the PDA to the PC appears like a unit extraible when connecting, and thus to be able to copy archives, to create folders, etc, from the explorer of Windows. And not only Windows, have used I it from Linux without problems.
As you see, it is not impossible to copy of simple way archives of our PC to card SD of the PDA. Something essential, if we want to use it like portable reproducer MP3, external storage device, portable console or, in short, all the utilities that we can give him and that with time, ire commenting.
Published: Alexander recommends in the commentaries a called program Palm File Browser, to transfer files between the Palm and the PC. The advantage is that he is gratuitous. The disadvantage, that needs to install a program in the PC, will be worth reason why us for our PC, but it does not stop to use the Palm like unit of portable storage USB in any computer.
Published: Carlos on the other hand recommends to us to prove PilotInstall. It is a program that replaces the one of Palm temporarily, and that when realising hotsync transfers the archives that we ask to him to the Palm, without executing no other conduit, reason why to install programs or to copy files quickly it comes as ring to the finger.

in my they tungsten e2, before copying mp3 with realplayer towards with the program of “fast installation of palmone”, used normally to install applications, then when it selected mp3 the program only sent them towards the part of card.

Indeed, some formats as the MP3 can be copied directly. Probrlema is the nonpredefined formats. When copying them, it will leave an error to us “unknown format” and it will not copy it.
An application that comes in two prtes, one for the PC (pfb) and other exists to install in palm (filepc2pda). With these it is possible to outside handle to the SD as if a disc but. I do not have links of unloading here but they are possible to be found and the best thing easily: he is gratuitous.

Anyway, by about 15 Euros you can be bought a portable card reader SD, who to being USB2 allows you to copy and to modify any file of the card. Another gratuitous option is the classic PilotInstall, that allows us to define in what directory of the card we placed the archives that we want.
Indeed Carlos, with a card reader also can be done. But in this blog always attempt that everything what it is explained, can be done without having to spend an additional money.
Nevertheless, PilotInstall did not know. I have proven it and I have liked much. Thank you very much!

You are right Luis, and that program has treated recently.
I have a Palm TX and software Softick Card Export II causes that the equipment is hung very followed, although I come proving its 3 last versions. In addition the obtained speed is of 550KB/s máx, whereas with my card reader I can read the SD to 4.7MB/s.
By these reasons it wanted to know if somebody knows some other software emulation of “USB Mass Storage”. I was several hours looking for in the Web and was so I arrived up to here.

You hang with respect to them, I cannot say to you since I have not had those problems. Test to perhaps deactivate some option of that they appear in preferences, but I would bet to a incopatibilidad with another program that you have installed.
With respect to the speed, it is a limitation of the USB of the Palm, that is 1,1 and that standard gives like terminal velocity the one that you say. Many cameras of photos and other apparatuses are 1.1. Your card reader is USB 2,0, that gives the speed that you say. It is a limitation hardware that cannot be modified.
how you made to run that program under linux? wine?

Unique I have proven PilotInstall in a IIIxe and Tungsten E2. It has worked very well along with an infrared port because I do not have cables to synchronize. It saves long time and it is very easy to use.

With the “Softick Card Export” that comment, the SD of your TX will see like an external storage device USB of all the life, accessible as a disk drive more.

I have a problem, if somebody of you can help me, is not that I need to visualize my archives of WORD 2003 in my agenda: TUNGSTEN/C to review it in the only program of this, Documents To Go Ver 5.003. The archives are in memory SD of 1G, Somebody knows like being able to visualize them without making as much transference of the computer to the agenda?

hello I have a treo 680 and I want to use the card sd as a portable memory via bluethooth using a called program Card Reader of http://www.mobile-stream.com/cardreader.html manages to do it via cable usb but I have not managed to make it work via bluethooth podrian to help me.
