Is the GPS accountable for their actions?

The systems help to drive location-based GPS are spreading very rapidly. Now that are installed on a significant percentage of vehicles, are beginning to emerge questions: whether our GPS navigator gives us incorrect information and we have just lost or having an accident by follow it, it is our fault or the manufacturer?

In Diariomotor.com the case of the driver of a Mercedes SLR 500, which ended in the middle of a desert and with a flat tire, follow the signs that gave him his GPS navigator. The response he received from sabry was as follows:

We have to remind you (and your client) that the GPS system does not replace the normal maps, or trial of the driver, but is simply an improvement of travel available to drivers, who may choose to use it or not. A driver uses a navigation system on their own.

The two questions asked in Diariomotor I find very interesting:

Why some companies try to make us believe that we can not require new technology the same reliability than their classics? Anybody who target their SLR 500 for a Â? DesiertoÂ? is of sound mind, whether encouraged by a GPS or by his own mother?

I think that all aid to the conduct that is a help. We can not impute anything that is ultimately decided by the driver. But on the other hand, if we are not going to trust the information provided by the GPS navigator, then it is not what you buy. On routes that already know, we will not be of any help, and where they are new, we must make the effort to see if the path is correct or is taking us to another address incorrectly, thus not save anything. What do you think?
