The PDA of the future
Chanda, an employee of Sun Microsystems, has been reflecting on the future of portable devices, and has translated the findings in his blog. The concept that has come is the AIO Card (All In One Card), a device Hibler the size and thickness of a credit card, which has the functions of a media player, Internet browser and GPS. To avoid disappointment, warning that the images are montages to illustrate the idea, and it is not even raised yet produce a similar device.

The size of a credit card
The interesting issue is the use of two technologies that are going to become very popular in the future:
- On the one hand philosophy thin client (client light), which is that the equipment is as simple as possible, and all the work it carries out a central server. This brings the device in question would have a processor for very low consumption, and its total size could be reduced dramatically, by not require either a mass storage system.
- And secondly, the use of electronic ink, which simulates the normal paper, but allowed to represent information as if it were a screen. Among other advantages, this technology consumes much less energy, and you begin to see products that use it.
It takes more or less time, but portable devices end up being something like this, and relating it to the post above me reaffirm that at that time will become objects of common use.
Published: in that other post explained that a device like this really is not as insurmountable today.

It seems to me a great idea. What is more, I hope that by a margin of 10 years have these devices and stop carrying in the backpack: a palm, an mp3, a cellphone, a camera ... For more than imagine the savings in cables and plugs!
I think that rather than 10 years
