The Treo 700p PalmOS to be very stable

A picture of the future Treo 700p

Begin to run rumors on the new Treo 700p, a version of the 700w but with PalmOS. PalmInfocenter we comment on the features of the model, as it has had access to a computer, and the dumpeó ROM for later analysis. Here the most important ready, translated:

  • Xscale processor at 312 MHz
  • Palm OS 5.4.9
  • Bluetooth is not confirmed yet, but it could be the long-awaited BT 1.2
  • Chamber of 1.3 mexapíxeles
  • 320x320 screen, as it should be
  • Support for FAT32 (for SD cards of several gigabytes)
  • Support EVDO radio (a connection of high-speed data to be missed in the absence Treo 650)
  • You can receive calls in 1xEvDo way, but do not call and surf at the same time (limit on 1xEvDo).
  • Improvements in the interface of the photo album (style website), and related applications.
  • The menu key has been moved to the bottom corner to the left (seen in the photo).
  • There are no drivers or Wifi option of using a WiFi card (as with the other Treo with Palm OS, Palm plays what?)
  • New DbCache enormous, with more than 10Mb

As we see, this Treo is a marvel. Personally I have been a lot of attention on data from the memory DbCache (DynamicHeap also seems to me the enormous):

Meminfo results:
Flash total size: 64.336
Flash free minus couple apps installed: 54.172
NVFS dbCache size: 18.431
Dynamic heap: 10.240

This is a team really stable, given the combination of all of this memory (when it becomes full, causing resets as explained here), and using the most advanced version of PalmOS, the 5.4.9, which is the same that which brings the T | X, and has much improved the management of the DbCache and NVFS.

In my opinion, is a master move. If all you have left the Treo 650 for having done so popular (ease of use, nice design, great functionality), and will add greater stability, bluetooth most advanced, high-resolution camera ... being the perfect smartphone. Plain and simple. We'll see over time if they had gone as well as expected. The only snag is the Wifi, but that is easy solution, they need only release the drivers ... When will?
