CHM read documents in Plucker

CHM format is the owner of a document that is stored in the Windows help. In fact these acronyms come from Microsoft Compressed HTML Help. Over time, this format has also been used to distribute multiple technical documents. If ever you have to read a file in this format, and are not on a machine running Windows, You have probably already been seen unable to open the bloody document. In his day, I too had to find a way to read them in Linux, and in the end as I found several GnoCHM, KchmViewer and xCHM. But how can we read in our Palm?. In the blog TamsPalm we explain how to extract these files from HTML documents, and then convert them into Plucker format as we would with any other:

  • The key is knowing extract the contents of the file CHM. It's as simple as opening a window "Symbol System" (the good old MS-DOS for us to understand), go to the directory where the CHM file (for example C: \ Mischm) and run the following order:

    C: \ Mischm \> hh-decompile c: \ directorio_destino fihero.chm

  • This will uncompress directorio_destino in the directory in the file content fichero.chm. Now you just have to convert to PDAConverter, or Sunrise Plucker these documents to Plucker format. To do this we will find the homepage of the CHM (most likely be called index.html) and use it as a document to convert.

It's that simple. A new document format is not supported directly by the Palm, we are now able to read in Plucker. Will the next?
