Install Files, the file manager for Palm
After the trick yesterday, we continue installing applications that bring some models of Palm, in others not bring the default. In this case it is the turn to Files. This application first appeared on the T5. This is a file manager that, in addition to its use as a standalone program, is used by other applications, such as DocsToGo 7, if installed on the Palm. Allows searches in the VFS (expansion card), and lets you open files directly if the associated application supports it.
Curiously, the Tungsten E2 mention this program to the online help (though not what brings installed), and in fact, perfectly Files can be installed in the T3 and E2. The process is simple, similar to yesterday explained to the main PIM applications. We just need to copy, or send via IR, the following files to our Palm:
- FileBrowser-PFil.prc
- FileBrowser-PFil_enUS.prc (or that of our location, for Spanish FileBrowser-PFil_esES.prc)
- FileBrowserLib-PFiA.prc
Curiously, copy these files to the E2 instantly triggers a lot of things: Favorites now let you add a file as a list item, local Blazer can open files, and DocsToGo 7 lets you choose which folder to save the file. In addition, the global search (magnifying glass) now seeks names File in FVS. Within its capabilities, so does the T3.

Files running on a Tungsten E2
Files is a good file manager. Lets move directories, the lack of a full browser for files that are in RAM in the memory card and the internal drive, and does not interfere with Filez, the manager free to almost everybody uses.
In short, another program that was designed to be included in the software series for the E2 and T3, and to improve other programs installed but mysteriously never made it. Original article in the blog TamsPalm.

Marcos, I was enchanted from your blog by chance that I gave to him. I am an addict to my Palm and I have lost many hours testing applications. From now on you delegate that task.
Returning to the topic, where can I find the files FILES? I see no link.
Thank you.
Hi Miguel.
The files needed to have to get a Palm that it has installed, or in default of its emulator. It explains the process in the post on installing the PIM applications.
But to simplify matters, I have done so with an emulator T5. You can download files from the link I've put in the post.
A greeting.
Marcos thank you very much,
I have installed. And the same thing as Pückler sunrise sync with my bloglines account. What enjoyed!
I encourage you to follow. You are included among my feeds.
A greeting.
I am glad that you have worked
A greeting.
This blazer that opens the local files, how you doing?
A greeting
That role is not specifically what I tried, but I suppose that when you open an html file from the file manager, you do so with the Blazer.
Well, this is me hanging, to open a html file of the card, blazer gives me a "fatal exception" and I restart the palm.
We will have to try opera.
Blazer is a bit awkward to manage memory, particularly in the Palm with NVFS. And on the other hand Files is not proven in the teams which did not come by default. So it was expected to give a problem.
To view HTML documents on the Palm I recommend that you try Plucker.
Hello, fijate to try to install the files. Prc indicated the link emulator of the T5 but I get an error, which I put below.
"You can not install the file. See HotSync log to obtain more information. (0 × 4002).
In reviewing the record gives me is siguiete report:
- Failure of the installation: C: \ Program Files \ palmOne \ jpmox \ Install \ FileBrowser-PFil.prc
Install failed synchronization.
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.
jpmox
Hello Jpmox.
Indeed, these system files can not synchronize directly to the RAM. You have to do is to synchronize the external memory card (SD, MemoryStick, which use your Palm), and once there, with a file manager as Filez, move the file into RAM. So does that leave you.
