Convert ebooks from LIT format for reading on the Palm

As we know, our Palm can play perfectly with the role of e-book reader (ebooks). I personally prefer the option is to use Plucker as a reader, and convert ebooks, are already in PDF, DOC, TXT ... and even CHM, Plucker format, through PDAConverter.

Plucker Why? There are other readers available that many people are using, but Plucker is a free-form document, the reader is also free software, and has support for multiple operating systems, not just Windows. In addition, the use of sources smoothed greatly improves the reading. But it is not Plucker of what comes after today.

Unfortunately not always find the books in an electronic format that we can work. Many electronics stores, for example, only download them to leave us LIT format, the owner of Microsoft, which can only be read in the Microsoft Reader, obviously with versions for Windows only. Fortunately, there is a way to transform these ebooks to HTML format, then pass it on to Plucker or any other format that we use in our Palm. In Canal PDA we explain it, including a tutorial written by Leo.

For reasons which we assume market, some e-libraries, as the very Amazon only sold books LIT format, that is, readable with Microsoft Reader program. Fortunately, there are ways to transform them into files more universal.

The format of Microsoft Reader e-books, whose files are recognized by the LIT extension, probably has its attractions, but instead is a severe limitation: only available to viewers for Windows platforms, whether PC or handheld devices Pocket PC.

Thus, users of Macintosh, Linux, Palm or Symbian would be prevented from reading e-books available in LIT format ... unless you use the program Convert LIT. This application (available for Windows and Mac OS X) extracts the textual information and graphical e-books LIT and turns it into a file in HTML format with all internal links navigation of the original, as well as illustrations and graphics. In turn, this document can be transformed into another that it is legible on the platform of the user, using it for some other more universal format, such as Plucker, Isil, Mobipocket and eReader ... all of which have, by the way, viewers for Pocket PC, but also for other mobile devices and desktop.

Leobardo published in Mexico PDA step by step instructions for using Convert LIT in its original state as a command line program, although there is also a supplement, called Convert LIT GUI, which is in the program with a graphical interface for Windows, easier to use.

To use Convert LIT requires that the computer has a licensed copy of Microsoft Reader. Also, the author of the program recommended to check the legality of their use, which means ignoring the copy-protection of some e-books, in each country.

Another format that we can turn our Palm. I have always said that one of the pillars of Palm is its community of users. And having said that, from here to command a hug Leo, a perfect example of what I mean. You can learn more about him in this interview that you have done recently. I'm staying with his reflection:

Operate their devices to the fullest, no matter the model, there will always be applications or uses that you make the juice to the top of their abilities, not because they believe that their device is not a recent model that is not useful handling and a good user knows the technology that is in their hands to their limits, even on them, if not done well this investment by pulling out garbage and missing the full potential of your team, this applies not only to Pda's, but any device that handles in your daily life
