The Palm and the world of astronomy (i)
If we saw at the time how a Palm can be infinitely useful in the world of aviation, this post and the following one will see that the aid that a Palm can render to the fans to astronomy is also very valuable. From letters to locate in the sky the objects to observe, to programs that control a telescope remotely, for a easier adjustment. In this first part we will see the multiple options with which to by hand have a stellar letter that, based on the moment of the year and our geographic position, will show the sky we really see as it, indicating where to find each object.
- Astromist is an ambitious project. It locates 2,5 million stars, 19,000 objects of deep sky, and contains 9,000 images. It simulates eclipses accurately, planets, I commit and asteroids, and until artificial satellites. It incorporates an atlas of the surface of the Moon and Mars. And to clear, it allows the wireless control (by bluetooth or infrared) of telescopes, dobsons, gps and cameras. The complete list of functionalities explains with more detail everything what this program can do.

Astromist provides great amount of information
- Planetarium does everything what the average astronomer needs: it shows the stellar letter, it locates to the moon and planets, with his coordinates, magnitude, distance, and moments of exit and putting, etc. Its way compass is useful to easily locate objects in the sky.

Planetarium does easy to locate the celestial objects
- Star Pilot is another one of the classic ones for Palm. It has three versions. The basic one locates stars, planets, and objects of the Messier catalogue in the letter. The version Extra includes in addition other programs: Sun! II (to know all the imaginable one related to the Sun), J-Moons (to locate the Jupiter satellites) and Solstice! (it calculates the solstices and equinocios between 1904 and 2031). The Advanced version adds in addition: Moon Info! , (it completes data base on the Messier objects), Planets! and Sun System (it shows to the orbit and position of planets). Finally the Platinum version adds Saturn! , Night Sky (simple progrma that shows the 88 main constellations), and NGC! (data base with 13,000 objects NGC/IC).

The letter of StarPilot
- 2Sky is an interactive stellar letter with more than 210,000 stars and 13,000 objects of the deep sky. It supports nine levels of zoom lens, as well as screens of 480×320 pixels. We can see everything than he is able, in this guide.

2sky showing the position of the constellations
- AstroInfo is a program of events and free and gratuitous almanac. It shows all the information referring to the Moon, the Sun, the 8 planets, and the stars: moments of exit, transit and putting, coordinates, magnitude and phase. Also it provides a rotary map and with zoom lens.

Astroinfo is also very complete
- Also it frees and gratuitous, and for that they do not have necessity of something so professional, exists one more a letter simpler call Palm Univer.

Color and versions monochrome
- Planisphere is also a more basic program, for nascent and observant occasional. If we registered this program, we will be able to also usuar Sky Chart, that is the developing version of Planisphere.

Planisphere is simple to use
- StarParty allows to control a telescope Celestron Nexstar if we counted on the suitable cable. It includes all the objects of the following catalogues: Messier, Caldwell, National Public Observatory (NPO) 110, Saguaro Astronomy Club (SAC) 110, Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS) 200, Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (R.A.S.C.) 110, Herschel 400, East Valley Astronomy Club (EVAC) 200, Selected Double Stars, Astronomical League “Double Star Club” observing list, Dunlop 100, Named Stars and International Meteor Organization (IMO) Meteor Shower list. It is a very complete program, so in its page we will be able to see all the characteristics that offer.
- PleiadAtlas is useful to locate objectives in the sky without needing a telescope. The author is proud to have the more extensive data base of stars, with a total of 1.450.000 of until magnitude 11,5.
In order to deepen more in this interesting liking and its combination with the Palm, In CanalPDA they have made an analysis of them program Planetarium, Astromist and Planisphere, and recommend the PalmAstro forums, with a great amount of information compiled during many years. In next post we will see more programs to make the easiest life to the fan to astronomy.

Marks. how decirte… slight post that you have currado yourself!
For Windows the SkyMap knew - it was very well, but I believe that never it got to have nothing similar for PalmOS…
It did not know nor half these programs, but knowledge enchants to me that exists!
What pain that is not also some species of pursuit on the missions of the NASA/ESA - like the Cassini either of the Mars Rover- or something similar, or would be milk!
There are two programs that much in Linux appreciated: Celestia and Stellarium. If you did not know them, échales a look.
On the programs to follow the missions, yes that would be interesting, although I have not found any… still.
P.D. - you are right, I have been throwing a look to him and the SkyMap is very well.
: - Or
God Mine!
That somebody stops this man!
VERY GOOD!

Formatting SD for “stuffed” with new soft!
Ja, ja. Thanks
Excellent program to make an impression to feminas… “it watches my love, that is the constellation of the bed… says to something that to you” jejejeje
In fact also habia used Skymap… habra that to buy a new SD to put so many programs…
If they work in the sense that you say, it does not matter to buy 10 or 12 new cards SD
Marks… I believe that when you finish with the astronomy article… you have already for another one…. “Software to make an impression”
Greetings, Hark0
