He writes much faster on the PDA with MESSAGE
One thing that surprises most people when they see a Palm for the first time, is its recognition system escrtira natural graffiti. It is a great invention, I have not tested its first version, but the second I like because it does not require any kind of learning, writing and ready. I will not deny that sometimes seems that we have mania (in my case with the letter "o"), but it is efficient and allows you to take the PDA and writing down what is immediately.
However, while complying with the idea of Palm make things easier to use, need not be the fastest method for introduicir text. In fact, there are several projects that replace graffiti by another system itself, which seek to improve the speed to write text on the PDA. One is MESSAGE, which I suggested Muxfin as interesting topic, and then I remembered that Israel in its podcast No # 4 had also spoken about him. We can see this method operational in the following video (thanks Muxfin):
MESSAGE running
MESSAGE The key is that any symbol that we want to write is not more than two taps on the screen. The nine letters are used more commonly, are at the heart of the nine boxes, so that only tap to be written. The following nine are in the upper left corner of each, and to list only have to do a line from the center of the box into that corner. So on until completion of all symbols, which include not only letters and numbers, but also everyone else on the Table of ASCII characters. This speeds up writing a lot of characters in the graffiti standard needed three strokes or more. Other common shares also are simpler, such as Caps Lock: dragging the pointer from the letter R upwards or downwards in the future will write in capital letters or lower case. Or the key cap that serves to introduce accents, characters, etc.. At its website describe the operation in a tutorial (requires Flash Player).

MESSAGE replaces the graffiti of our PDA
This program works by replacing the area of graffiti with their own form of writing. This makes the PDA where the zone is created by writing software (320x480 pixels) are ideal for use. For example there are versions available for Cliés NR, NX and NZ, Tungsten T5, Tungsten T3, Tapwave Zodiac and Garmin iQue 3600. For PDAs that have the area of writing in "hardware" (such as my E2), are available some stickers that are placed in it, which represents the distribution of symbols.

The adhesive that solves the problem
Another form of this program, called Single Finger message, makes the keyboard bigger, so that they can directly use the finger to write the text. In principle is designed for Sony Cliés NX, NZ, NR, but it is possible that in more modern equipment to function similarly.
To test this system, and practise before you start using it seriously, is also available a program that simulates on the screen what they would appear in graffiti. It also includes a small stake with which to improve our training. And finally, is also available for Palm hack replacing the virtual keyboard by MESSAGE, so we can use on any PDA. This needs, like any other hack, install a program manager hacks. For Palmer 5, the hacks are no longer recommended, being replaced by the Desktop Accessories (DA) of those who speak in due course. But yes you can use the old hacks, thanks to YAHM (Yet Another Hack Manager), that it is compatible with Palm 5.

MESSAGE can function as Hack
MESSAGE not only supports alphabet romance languages: there are versions for Japanese alphabet, Arabic, Hebrew and Persian, and is configurable for any other alphabet. Alike, in addition to the version for computers running Palm, we can find other Pocket PC, Tablet PC and mobile phones. Even the sale is a small external keyboard, 3x3 inches and USB connection, which basically consists of a touch screen where we can use this method to enter text.
To find out more about this program, we can enter their group on Yahoo Groups, in which the large number of users of this system which exist all over the world, share their experiences and tips. At its website there are some very useful information. There is also a good analysis in Spanish in PCdeMano.
MESSAGE needs a period of learning, but for those interested in entering text on the PDA to the greatest possible speed is going to be interesting, because eventually it seems that really is much faster than using the standard graffiti.

We will have to try
Another good system is the Decuma that comes with the Clie TJ-37 (if not with other models), operates as we would normally write with a pen and software interprets it.
But I am still using the graffiti that is very effective when you get used, although there are letters that are sometimes reluctant
Another piece of good Post Marcos!
Exam, like this comment of mine sounds like you hesitated or Chula….
Only comment that my first project for PocketPC, Klonycs, was written entirely in the PDA language PocketC.
But remember correctly over 30 DIN A-4 X each time it's printed and reviewed, pen in hand. Needless to say that I finished up the hat of tecladito virtual marras, but you know, when there is no more, as can be done. (At that time did not have computers at home, and could not devote the computers of the company for my particular projects, of course).
The guards did not have the typical markings move the pen, but rather felt perfectly the taps on the keyboard. (When he is not showing, the lower part of the screen was riddled with "balls").
Greetings, Hark0
Of course, if programmers or writers who use the PDA to write large amounts of text, these methods of writing quickly become really useful.
Ole Ole Ole…
Congratulations Mark!
The truth is that I have quite forgotten writing "hand" in ODBs, because I have spent time with teams with full keyboard, like the Nokia 9300, the Treo 6550 (twice already ;-)) or Qtek 9100; recently I began to write a note for my wife in her Palm T | T and suffered as an apprentice, as the Graffiti 1 what was even more neglected.
Thank you for being a window towards knowledge Marcos.

Would have to prove… seems very interesting though with graffiti'm pretty fast… although sometimes I would be able to customize something for which I am not unaware of the O, P and D
Lastima who has not for Symbian UIQ
This set for the English language? Because it already installed and sometimes makes me difficult to find the letters and write properly… I imagine that the Spanish most frequently used letters that the other English, and therefore the distribution of these letters should vary…
