Synchronizing the internal drive or SD card with the PC
Holders of a Tungsten T5 know what is the internal unity: one part of the apparatus of RAM, which is reserved for storing files. One of the most interesting possibilities of this report is to make it accessible from our PC via the mode device. And although we have another model of Palm, we can always use as storage space expansion card, and through the necessary software, make it accessible from the PC.
So far nothing new. As we already knew, we can use the Palm as a USB storage device, siemplemente bringing us a cable to connect to the PC by a USB port. But in PDAExpertos go one step further: we explain how to maintain synchronized files we have in the Palm, and we have in our PCs, and also using a program available in all versions of Windows since 95, but often forgotten The briefcase windows.
[...] Since (Windows 95) includes the implementation Briefcase, consisting of a special folder with Windows capabilities synchronization of files on with their respective copies removable drives such as floppy disks, flash drives, etc.. Its principle is basa on the date of the files, so that the most recent overwrites the oldest, while the system provides the ability to decide what we want to copy or overwrite if we are to maintain both.
This method will be of great value:
- If we want to synchronize documents with a computer that is not installed Documents To Go or Palm Desktop.
- If we use Documents To Go with native files and do not want to use the utility conversion and synchronization of DataViz own.
- If we want to make backups of the contents of the internal drive quickly and easily.
- If we install easily Plucker documents or other readers, we can convert at different times to the synchronization and save locally on your computer to transfer them later to the T5. (This method of copying files to considerably large, is much faster and more efficient to install through Hotsync).
- And, of course, to use our Palm as a means for transporting files, in the same way as we would with a normal USB pendrive.
In PDAExpertos is explained step by step, in great detail and accompanied by numerous screen shots, the process forward. It basically consists of, once our Palm appears as a removable storage unit more than our PC, create a briefcase (for example on the desktop), and configure synchronization between this folder and Palm.

We can customize how to make synchronization
As you warn us, the only caution in making this process is, in addition to the step of selecting copy what we want to prevail (the most recent default), the elimination of files: If you delete a file card or Briefcase , Windows propose that we remove their copy by default. It should be borne in mind, therefore, that if you do not copy the file to another location and if not modify the proposed action by the system will lose that file!. Another possible option is to maintain a folder or a file in the Briefcase and detach from the original, so as not to synchronize selected items.
Once we have prepared our briefcase, keep the files synchronized transport in the Palm, and we have in the PC, will be child's play.

Hello Marcos, a query Is this works with an E2? I am very interested in the topic did not use the Documents to Go.
Thank you
Interesting and useful… but I prefer to use a reader SD / MMC is faster…
@ JCarrié: of course it works with an E2. Once you see on your computer as a unit more (for example using Card Export), the briefcase is responsible for synchronizing.
@ FrozenFlame: that the foregoing, but get the card from the Palm and put it in the reader, you can also use this method. The briefcase does not know if you're reading a PDA or an SD card, he also sees it as an external drive
Marcos Gonzalez Troyas: This Nice to know
I am trying synchronization with the briefcase, I have a 1 GB card and then waiting as 10 minutes. The following syncs will be faster?
The Palm have USB 1.2 standard, which gives a maximum speed of 12 Mbps. To copy to 480 Mbps (100Mbps in fact) that gives the USB 2.0, you'd have to use an external card reader. There is a limit of the Palm, rather than the briefcase or the method of synchronization.
Marcos Thanks for your explanation, I proof in the card reader and the printer is much faster than across the palm. I liked the system just by not having to go through Documents to Go.
Greetings to all PDAmaniáticos.
Hello everybody….
I wanted to ask the following:
I have a nokia 3161 and I came with the sd card, but use it as a nose and I want to put the computer and do not like, nor as downloading mp3… .. contestenme porfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavoooooorrr, it is very important….
.- greetings good life .-.-.-
Tania,
I do not know your phone, but the best way (at least for me) is to connect the card to a PC via a card reader and hence copy files you want.
I use various methods, which use the printer has a slot to place the altar or a card that uses the pendrive as memory cards.
Hopefully you serve something.
Greetings
How can I make a backup, is a nokia 3161?
as well as I can keep the phones on the memory card, thanks
