Hang Internet Explorer 6 with a simple rollover

Internet Explorer is the internet browser that comes installed by default in Windows, even having been the cause of many complaints to Microsoft antitrust. It would not be a problem if it were a real loophole for viruses and spyware. There have always been alternatives, but have now reached a level such that rather than replace it I would say that give many turns. To take two examples: Mozilla Firefox and Opera Web Browser, which also are also free, so you can install and test to see if you like.

Ambos son gratuitos, sólo hay que probarlos y elegir
Both are free, you just have to try and choose

I personally use Firefox for the following reasons:

  • The first, for web developers and webmasters in general is very important, is its far greater respect to standards issued by the W3C, which means that if you make a design that follows the standards, can relax because everything will work as it should in Firefox, which is not true in Internet Explorer, since when do what you want at the time of display pages, requires developers to use thousands of tricks to also work well in this browser.

  • The tabbed browsing lets you navigate through many pages at once without opening more than one window. Also, when you open a link in new tab, it loads in the background, so when you finish reading what you were looking, you go to another tab and you will be charged the new page without disturbing.
  • The huge amount of extensions that let you integrate all sorts of additions to the browser, are also a marvel. You can use del.icio.us as a bookmark manager, integrating a download manager advanced download embedded videos on websites, that you could not get otherwise, use the Internet Explorer easily in poorly designed pages that only work with him, and and a long etcetera.
  • There are also hundreds of topics, which change the look of the browser completely, buttons, colors.
  • The little search box allows you to find anything directly on Wikipedia, in the Dictionary of the RAE, or Google Images to give three examples. There are hundreds of search engines available to integrate into Firefox.
  • To keep up with updates to your favorite pages, if not Quires use a dedicated RSS reader, there are the live bookmarks, using the RSS feed for the pages that have to be aware in real time when new content.
  • And most importantly, Firefox keeps you protected from viruses, exploits and spyware, while Internet Explorer is a real loophole (although that is competent, has copied many things from Firefox, and now is much better). Firefox automatically updates via the Internet, so always use the version with the latest security patches applied. And all this we must add the security that use a software program that is free, which means that as the code is public, thousands of eyes are continually looking to correct any errors it may contain.

Although the worst of Internet Explorer is the source code has so many holes, there's not enough patches to fix whatever is broken. For those who believe not sure meno Explorer is Firefox, now have a page where you can test experimentally: taking advantage of an ingenious design of CSS (the language used to define the appearance of Web pages) have gotten simply by passing the mouse over a link, Internet Explorer will hang in a couple of seconds. The webpage is: http://www.best4web.net/crash.php. With Firefox, of course, there is no problem, hold the test without flinching. Angel Nieto explained why in his blog.

If you want to install Firefox on your computer, to test it, you can go to the official website or directly clicking the icon in the sidebar of this page, down at all. The download is less than 5Mb. Dedicadle few minutes to see what he can not repent (and if you like, what desinstaláis and there was no trace of him).
