Make hotsync through wireless connectivity
Those who follow this blog for over time you will know capitalize on the wireless connectivity of your palm in different ways: by bluetooth connection to the Internet, do hotsync by bluetooth, transfer any files, listen to radio from the internet, practice wardriving, remotely control the PC or the media player ... And then some say it's bluetooth or wifi is never used! But there is one basic use that has been left in the dark, possibly because my Tungsten E2 does not have wifi integrated.
And it is precisely you can hotsync through wifi, which is very convenient for example to synchronize your PDA from another room than that of the PC without having to search the bloody cable. Well, as I did with the hotsync via bluetooth, MrAnderson has written a very detailed tutorial with screen shots of all the steps necessary to make it work this hotsync via wifi.

We already do hotsync by USP, wifi and bluetooth
The first step, he says, is to make some initial checks:
- The PC with which you synchronize your PDA should be on the same wireless network.
- The firewall must be disabled, or at least must have a firewall that is configurable and allow connections from the same network.
- There are only a router across the wireless network in your home.
- The PC with which to syncing must have the same IP range that the wireless PDA in question.
From there he explains step by step how to configure your router Linksys WRT54GS, although these steps will be similar to another router different. I think it's doubly interesting because it details the procedure to make our wireless network has a basic protection by filtering by MAC address, broadcasting of the SSID disabled, user name and password to access the router changed from the default values, and WEP encryption.

Configuring the router to allow access to Palm
For those who want a well-protected wireless network, at least with the technology currently available for our homes, I would recommend using WPA instead of WEP, and posts and a security system based on protocol 802.1X server with triple-A RADIUS, but as the only Palm that I know that supports WPA is the TX applying the recent security patch for corporate networks (if there is any more please informadme in comments) do not dig deeper into the subject. As a teacher I met would say, "I leave as an exercise."
After detailing the configuration of the router, then on to explain in the same detail of the PDA and the Hotsync program that runs on your PC.

Setting up the wireless connection in the Palm
That's it. For users of a Sony Clie MrAnderson also connects us a tutorial to configure the wireless hotsync. The result, a wide release to join the freedom of wireless with the hotsync.

The downside of using a Palm with WiFi, which is not the TX-is that you have to walk disabling WPA to connect or to synchronize, is a little hassle
The Palm could be carrying with its users by giving them a software update for the WiFi. Although I do not know if the wireless chip for the T | C or even the Palm SDIO WiFi card, supporting WPA hardware ..
Saludotes!
The truth is that it is nonsense to insist on a brand WPA as "enterprise security." WEP is clearly insecure, and WPA-PSK is easy to use and compulsory employment in any network, with "domestic" that is.
Thank you for commenting on my post to your blog Marcos ...
I have a question ... is equally insecure WEP despite disable SSID ... I'm thinking about Fonear my router and share some of my bandwidth in a controlled way ... but that the security intrigues me ...
On the other hand Marcos eye that the notification of new comments via e-mail is not working.
Greetings
"Foneando" your router appears to let me open access to your network, unless tomases Medes, such as MAC filtering, to prevent them from accessing your computers. The new "fonera" costs 5 € and lets you define two networks: an open for other font, and closed with a WEP or WPA for your use.
Better watch it on the website of Fon, I do not what I used yet and I can not report in detail.
I think the idea of making excellent hotsync with wi-fi by that fast compared to the Bluetooth that is half slow.
Hi Mark, very good post .... I wanted to ask if you could prove it on your E2, because in my own ... I do not know if it's because I have an older version of the HotSync or that, but do not let me, because instead of saying and Local Network, said Local and Modem (above the logo HotSync). So I will not let me enter the nro Ip of the Pc to connect.
There are updates for the HotSync?
Thank you, we are!
Javier
Hola Javier. There is a small detail, our E2 has Bluetooth but not Wi-Fi, you can not ask everything for that price
Anyway you can add wireless by buying an SD card that integrates special.
The current version of the HotSync Manager is 6.0.1, which comes with PalmDesktop 4.1 ... download it from this link and test if the problem version
Greetings
Thank you for responding so quickly guys!
I forgot that I have to comment on the E2 with the SD WiFi, ProQuad buy the pack, jejeje.
I have an old version of HotSync then. The can be charged by the Palm?
I will try. Bye and thanks
mmmm, I have tried to enter the link you sent me that Mr Anderson, but nothing happens, because E2 had no update to download, someone I could easily pack? thanks again
