It eliminates those annoying sounds of your Palm

Perhaps it is not a problem for the majority of the possessors of a Palm, but there is a detail that can be uncomfortable: the small effect that sounds whenever we pressed a physical key, for example the keyboard of the Treo, or we make APT in any element of a program. He is not as annoying as the humming of the screen that luckyly already we saw like eliminating, but in my opinion transmits a sensation of mechanical apparatus badly finished. You do one tries, to deactivate the sound of the Palm: when doing APT in any menu, or pressing the physical bellboys, the lack of that sound transmits a solidity sensation. Perhaps to other users it bothers another different sound to them, like which it sounds with each error, or each informative window, or perhaps somebody wants to deactivate the sound of starting of the Palm, because it reinitiates every night as it has already been recommended sometimes.

The easiest option would be to deactivate the loudspeaker completely, but that small annoying sound does not have so that to make us lose all the others. In order to solve this problem, hack Supress KeyClick Sound exists, that allows to deactivate of independent way each of these small ones, and potentially annoying, sound effects:

  • Sound of information window
  • Sound of warning window
  • Sound of error
  • Sound of starting
  • Sound of the alarms
  • Sound of confirmation
  • Sound to click

In order to use it, like any hack, we will need a manager hacks. To PalmOS 5 we have YAHM, that he is compatible with the Palm most recent. Once installed YAHM and this hack in the Palm we activated, it and we chose what sounds to leak. In the package also hack is included another small that makes sound a sound of click when it is keyed with the keyboard of the Treo within a text picture.

With respect to the stability of the program, there am shortage a peculiar problem. The version that initially I installed in my Tungsten E2 was the 1.0.3, that works without problems. Nevertheless, when updating to version 1.0.4 resets was very frequent. So if you install this last version and causes reseteos of your Palm, you prove the 1.0.3.

The difference apparently, according to sample YAHM, version 1.0.3 controls only an event of the system to eliminate the annoying sound. The 1.0.4 control two events, by the sight to be more effective, but this behavior since I have said brings about a great instability in the E2.

In summary, small hack for the very maniáticos ones that we want to eliminate those annoying sounds of the system.
