The Palm in the world of medicine
In addition to the utility that can be given at a Palm, these devices have a greater utility in certain professions. In its day, we saw a tool that is highly recommended for the pilots of aircraft during flights and also on land, but undoubtedly in the world of medicine where more profits can be given to one of these devices, and proof of this is the large number of programs focused on medicine that exist for PalmOS.
However, to talk about these uses should ideally be someone who understands this issue has its recommendations based on her own experience. And once again, our friend MrAnderson, also a lover of the Palm is a medical professional (hence comes the MD of the title of your blog, the style House) has done an excellent job in his blog to which you refer to discover everything a PDA can help during the work day.
This is a series of three posts in which talks about all the programs that brings in its Tungsten T3 that have facilitated its work. As he himself says:
The medical practice has never been easy, and it is in fact to bear in memory a tremendous amount information. And certainly more than ever you have to go to any book, or book or colleague to recall some details ... How was the calculation of the QTc? What height and weight must have a child of 5 years? Leriche syndrome ... What was that?.
Fortunately, the Palm can do much more simple existence as our clinical and come to our aid, so that we keep in our minds what we really need to be there to be rescued in a situation that we need to remember as fast in an emergency. In this first post will see the applications of Medicine personally find indispensable, and that I installed on my T3.

The programs vary widely, from medical calculators, up lists of epona through tables of growth for the control of the development of small, tools for the diagnosis, patient records, and many more, all free. MrAnderson also recommends some commercial programs but very useful, mainly focusing on the world of pediatrics, who have a surprise at the end of the third post.

By not having the knowledge in medicine, I can not come to discuss these programs, but certainly seem very helpful, and will save much time in consultation paper documentation, or maintain recorded patient data. The comments are open as usual for readers who want to work with any recommendation or opinion.

The Palm in Medicine are absolutely necessary ... unless you have the ability to remember names of medications 1500, 400 different diseases with all their signs and symptoms, 300 drug interactions, 250 names or signs of disease, and about 150 formulas Calculation of Medicine ... and also remember the name of your patients ... Pfff no thanks ... better use a Palm jejejejeje

I intend to buy a T3, because I think the best for my profession, but I would like to know if a part of all the information that we can save these, some programs and sensor that can enable me to monitor my vital signs of Palm my patient in the room emerg ence so fast, such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, ... etc?

Alex Ramos: Until now there is only pulse oximeter available for iPAQs, it consists of a sensor and a Compact Flash card ... Here is a link ... the blood pressure would be difficult to establish because it requires a compressor and I do not think that the burden on existing the drums of Palm could fix it ... Cheers
Thanks MrAnderson, I could not have responded so well that doubt.
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I understand about the problem of the use of the compressor for the blood pressure measurement, but there are sphygmomanometers (blood) digital whom possess a bomb manual, like the Mercury, which after inflating the brasalete deflates slowly and it automatically that enables the computer to sense the blood pressure. One of these are created by the brand OMRON.
I say this because it would be interesting to have all this on a Palm.
Thanks again
These Alex in the right ... in fact are developing one that uses a PCMCIA card, and looks up spirometer ... THIS link ... we hope that someone comes to mind to create something for Palm by using the SDIO interface. Ever had a link on how to use the sensor of a pulse oximeter, but I lost ...
Teams!
It is a shame that Palm is one of the most widespread use of PDA for medical use, has not been focused on this area.
Also lei that in a hospital in USA, I do not remember which installed a WiFi system for using the Palm as medical history using a network with a central database. With this every doctor, anywhere in the hospital, could review the histories of all patients and add new notes in these, as well as through access codes, check the Internet at home since the stories.
I'MA MEDICAL Colombiano, MEET ME IN A PLACE PRETTY ONE OUT OF HOSPITAL WITH INCREASED CAPACITY AND REALLY ME MY PALM brought in Apure ... FINALLY CAN NOT WALK ON SOME OPPORTUNITIES AND EVERYTHING IS BETTER IN A PROTOCOL. DOC TO AN ITEM IN FULL A TEXT THAT BY EXAMPLE IN AN AMBULANCE could not carry. I'm really happy with MI TX. PD ME SOMEONE COULD GO TO DOCUMENTS PROVIDED PREMIUM "," YA KNOW THAT IN PDF is usually THE BEST AND NOT BY THE TIME I HAVE A READER SD include them directly to the card. THANK YOU.
Hello Gustavo.
I have recommended in another post in which PalmPDF comment and the Adobe Acrobat Reader for Palm OS. In addition to have them installed, I think that will allow you to copy PDFs directly to the SD card in each hotsync.
