New photos and video from the operating system ALP, successor to PalmOS
Summarize what this is the ALP and why we are interested: ACCESS is the company that bought a few months ago at PalmSource, developer of the operating system PalmOS, which is the one that comes installed on all Palm (except, of course, some who use Treo Windows Mobile). PalmOS version 5 has in his long time, and there was talk of a version 6 called Cobalt, but eventually the project was rejected, and ACCESS surprised us all when it announced that it was creating a totally new operating system based on Linux, for replace PalmOS. This operating system is ALP, acronym of "ACCESS Linux Platform."
Well, after some time since the latest news from this operating system, the guys from PDAExpertos show us photographs and a video of the ALP operating system running on hardware demonstration, from the recent 3GSM World Congress 2007.

The computer demonstration running on the ALP
The developments are remarkable, such as the ability to change the language of the computer from a menu without the need to do a hard reset as was the case until now.
You can also see the GarnetVM emulator, which is responsible for implementing the applications that exist for PalmOS. This is a crucial point in my opinion, because the vast amount of software available for PalmOS ago that since its inception ALP is well-supplied software.

Setting GarnetVM, the PalmOS emulator
The emulator has the ability to set parameters such as screen resolution or the amount of memory, individually for each application. There is even a virtual mouse to be able to tap when the device has no touchscreen.
As icing, on film, which is running a mobile phone with ALP installed.
Video of ALP in full operation
You can visit the section of PDAExpertos to see the rest of the photographs and details of his visit. Excellent work!

So I'm also hesitating between do with any Treo or wait for a new model comes out with ALP. For the time being I will wait with my E2 that is already beginning to be something viejita use of both.
The truth, and I feel pretty frustado with my LifeDrive I like to see something that makes me think about a real change, I believe it no longer purchases or a gadget until you see this ALP.
