To solve to incompatibilidades between Vista Windows and our Palm

At this point, we want or no, all we are found out the launching of the new operating system of Microsoft, Vista Windows. As it happens whenever a product of similar complexity is sent, many problems and incompatibilidades arise. And, by all means, the users of Palm devices we have our small portion of problems.

Thanks to MrAnderson there am shortage the page of Palm on compatibility with Vista Windows, dedicated to inform to us into the existing solutions to resolve these problems, like the existence of a patch for Outlook 2007 that allows to continue synchronizing our Palm with this software, as well as another patch for Chapura PocketMirror and corrected versions of Palm Desktop and Hotsync Manager.

The incompatibilidades with existing programs or are until certain point normal, or attributable to the developers of these programs of third parties. For example, shortly DocumentsToGo will have compatibility with MS Office 2007 (the solution meanwhile is to continue keeping in format MS Office 2003). The possibility of using the Treo like telephone modem USB (DUN, Dial Networking) also has disappeared with Vista, and will be necessary to hope a new version of the software that the operators of movable telephony provide, to recover this possibility, or to use bluetooth.

Now when doing double click in a .PRC we obtain this
Now when doing double click in a .PRC we obtain this

They begin to be ridiculous nevertheless other failures, like for example that no longer are possible to install directly programs in the Palm double doing click in file .PRC or .PDB. In post written by MrAnderson it is detailed how to be able to install using them the contextual menu, although he is something that will disorient without a doubt to many customary users to the simple procedure to click double.

They do not have to double do click in PRC and PDB. They must do click with the right button on the icon of Quick Install, and to select “to execute like Administrator”, soon they add the PRC and PDB that want to install, they close Quick Install, and they realise HotSync in the habitual form. The archives would have to settle suitably in their Palm… in spite of Vista Windows.

What of course he is extremely serious, is that the programs that need to install their own conduits to communicate with the Palm during the Hotsync, will not work in Vista Windows. And other programs that make things outside the normal thing moderately also will stop working, as they comment in the forums of Palmaniac. If until the archives .hlp with the documentation of the Palm that come in the CD, can stop being compatible in Vista Windows. A terrible situation that unfortunately will meet all the users Linux (for which by all means version of Hotsync does not exist, although yes the possibility of using other programs to synchronize the Palm and the PC). It seems that now all we are equal… of evil.

And as MrAnderson says well, to put the sour cherry we have them programs LifeDrive Manager of the LifeDrive, and Cases out Transfer of the T5, no longer will be possible to be used in Vista Windows, staying as unique option to use the Way Device in these equipment.

So as MrAnderson recommends, it is worth the trouble to wait for a time to that these problems are solved, although the main one, the mutual incompatibility with the existing conduits, I fear that it does not get to be solved, leaving many programs obsolete that perhaps have never a new compatible version with Vista Windows.
