Resolve incompatibilities between Windows Vista and our Palm
At this point, we like it or not, we are all aware of the launch of the new Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista. As happens every time it launches a product of such complexity, there are many problems and incompatibilities. And, of course, users of Palm devices have our small share of problems.
Thanks to MrAnderson I discovered the page on the Palm compatibility with Windows Vista, dedicated to inform us of existing solutions to solve these problems, including the existence of a patch for Outlook 2007 that allows monitoring synchronizing our Palm with this software, as well as another patch for Chapura PocketMirror and corrected versions of Palm Desktop and Hotsync Manager.
Incompatibilities with existing programs are somewhat normal, or attributable to the developers of these third-party programs. For example, shortly DocumentsToGo will have compatibility with MS Office 2007 (the solution meanwhile is to continue keeping in MS Office 2003). The possibility of using the Treo as a USB telephone modem (DUN, Dial-Up Networking) has also disappeared with Vista, and more waiting for a new software version that mobile operators provide, to recover this possibility, or use the bluetooth.

Now when you double click a. PRC get this
Beginning to be ridiculous, however, other failures, such as it is no longer possible to install programs directly into the Palm by double-clicking the file. PRC or. PDB. In the post written by MrAnderson detailing how to install them using the context menu, although it is certainly something that mislead many users accustomed to the simple procedure of double-clicking.
Do not you double click in the PRC and PDB. They must click the right button on the Quick Install icon, and select "Run as Administrator", then added the PRC and PDB who want to install, Quick Install closed, and perform HotSync in the usual way. The files should be properly installed on your Palm ... in spite of Windows Vista.
What indeed is extremely serious, is that programs need to install their own channels to communicate with the Palm during the Hotsync, not run on Windows Vista. And other programs that make it moderately stuff out of the ordinary also cease to function, as discussed in forums Palmaniac. If the files up. Hlp with the documentation for the Palm that are in the CD, can no longer be compatible with Windows Vista. A terrible situation that unfortunately know all users of Linux (for which of course there is no version of Hotsync, but the possibility of using other programs to synchronize your Palm and PC). It seems that now we are all equal ... of evil.
And, as well MrAnderson said, to put the icing on the programs that we have LifeDrive Manager of the LifeDrive, and File Transfer of T5, and may not be used in Windows Vista, as the only remaining option to use the Device Mode in these teams.
So as recommended MrAnderson worth waiting a while to solve these problems, although the principal, incompatibility with existing channels, afraid not to get settled, leaving obsolete many programs that might not ever have a new version compatible with Windows Vista.

Thank you for collecting so many solutions to the problems of compatibility with Vista. When you install it on my computer, who knows when I will be prepared.
Look who had installed linux as both sight and never occurred to me to try to make the hotsync-view (now the view is asking for a password to be able to use it now only use linux ...). greetings
Unfortunately from now on a lot of people do not know anything other than Windows Vista.
Horror ... best hope to draw one or two service pack: p
I definitely hope to the Service Patch 2 or 3 .. at this point just to have started Reliability the "light".
To all those who arrive here looking like climbing programs or synchronize your palm in sight, the answer is simple, deactivate the hotsync manager of the taskbar on the desktop and activenlo to operate only when running the palm desktop (then closed) then running the Palm Desktop with administrator privileges, (dan right click on the link and choose "Run as administrator"), must always do they want to synchronize the palm, in this way can always use it as they have done.
Greetings.
Many thanks Sebastian
