Beware of older versions of UDMH
The program UDMH, the brilliant Dimitry Grinberg, is a hack who gets to use standard memory of the PDA to increase the dynamic memory available to run large programs. It is necessary, for example, to play Quake or Super Nintendo emulator. UDMH is a very stable, even more so considering that toquetea the operating system to very low levels.

UDMH obtains additional dynamic memory from the standard memory
But care should be taken with a detail: UDMH is a program that has been in development for many years, and older versions were designed to run on Palms course with an operating system older. The consequence is that if we installed an old version of UDMH in our modern Palm (PalmOS 5) We can leave it completely unusable. This is the email I received from a reader who had this problem:
[...] Using the Doom, also install the UMDH version 3 to increase the device's memory and be able to play without problems and one day my Palm froze, I get the screen with the logo of Palm and a black bar at the from top to flash, it does not work any of the 8 q reset already exist and until I opened with a manual q alight around the Internet and you disconnect the battery, does not work either, remains unchanged.
In all the places I have found q service here in Guadalajara just me suggest changing the motherboard q cost me 80 bucks as more manpower, as 1000 pesos, I think this is excessive and found out that only q would be needed to rewrite the ROM operate normally, but would lose my data, what worries me is q repair costs what a model like that used. [...]
I was surprised to receive this email because I have gone through the same situation: at the time I installed version 2.2 of UDMH on my Tungsten E2 and the result was identical. In the end, I had to send it to repair the technical service of Palm, which I returned with a new board. Being in warranty repair was free, but I was more than a month and a half without being able to use it.
Conclusion: If you have a Palm modern (as the page Dimitry recent versions of UDMH work well: Treo 600, Treo 650, Zire 31, Zire 71, Zire 72, T | E, T | T, T | T2, T | T3, T | T5, iQue 3600, TG50, NX 80, and in general anything with Palm OS 5.4 or higher) download and use the most modern version of UDMH (from 5 onwards). Neither will happen to you install older versions (unless your Palm is older) if you do not want to be with a beautiful and expensive posapapeles.

Hello
I remember that from the tarjea SD installing a file that is named start.exe will recover somewhat but could not remember who it was and if you read the card before becoming caught.
On the other side that jerk or total ignorance of what is carried in hand we need to change the motherboard instead of initializing the rom with any program that palm available and has not come to light.
That is not impossible, because as you shall know there are several upgrades palm (do not remember whether it was the wifi or the VersaMail), which updated the rom, bone that will not be impossible, the problem will be to meet you.
A greeting
Hello,
taking into account the minor problem of not changing the card from the palm, which would be the version of UDMH for a Tungsten E2? does not come out as the list of gift Dimitry I do not dare to install it.
If I understand correctly, the program would avoid the crash due to lack of memory?
greetings
Phew that's why it is important documented much about it before pulled to do things, but even if it is a new Palm user ...
The 5.3 (I think the last version) excellent, worth the buy, there is certainly a part of UDMH where the application asks the user to both memory and we need three tables above is not that .... (K show of dynamic ... ... 0 or blank memory of auto)
so as to set up or manipulated?
thanks to the super page bible of my T E2
@ Rafa: You can run a program to automatically insert the SD card, renaming it to "start.prc" and putting it in a separate directory. It is explained here. The problem is that if Palm fails to boot this method does not apply.
Javier @: The program avoids crashes caused by that fills the entire dynamic memory of the Palm. It is something independent of the memory DbCache that gives problems with the Palm with NVFS. As for the version, I've only seen that people have problems with older versions, but I've seen that the E2 does not come out in the list of compatible equipment, I do not know that thinking, the E2 does not have anything special to make it different from other Palm.
@ Jose carlos: this configuration is to make the program get a fixed amount of additional memory. If you leave it in "auto" I think that is succeeding as is necessary.
Thank you Marcos.
It seems to be reset every day ... as usual (as recommended in muuuchos previous post).
Greetings and I join the comment from Jose Carlos: "thanks to the super page bible of my T E2"
Hello Marcos.
I am another Palmeran most of the universe. I am thinking to retire my old (and utilizadísima) Zire 31 with a t | x, and I see that on the list that you put on the UDMH not see this model. In addition I have read in some places on palms t | x dead for having installed (although I do not know if it has sought to older versions of the program). In fact I think there are some users have the palm which is sworn to Dimitry for this reason.
Do you know if there is already full compatibility with the T | X?
UDMH installed on the TX (latest version) running perfectly and smoothly. Greetings.
Hear a preguntota, I've heard a lot from that TE2 can be decomposed by using, it is true or is it just a bad use of the program to exaggerate the parameters that can be moved
Christ, as told in the post, I installed version 2.2 on my E2 and I had to send it to repair a Palm. With a version above the 5 does not pass that.
