How to run Java applications on the Palm
David Chaves from Costa Rica, sent us this collaboration which expands the explanation of how to install the Java Virtual Machine on the Palm, to get running on our Palm Java applications that are available online. Thanks, David!
I want to make a series of steps and files to the proper use of Java applications on the Palm, such as mobile games. To perform this procedure should download the following files:
- IBM Virtual Machine: WEME571.zip.
- Simulation Toolkit: Java_Tech_for_Garnet_WEME57.zip. (Original download)
- JAD Maker: JAD_Maker.zip (Web page).
Java Virtual Machine for Palm is developed by IBM
It should install the following files in the Palm:
- From the first download will be joining in the "WEME571/JVM/ARM4T" and install the files: "J9JavaVMMidp20.prc", "J9JavaVMMidp20_es.prc" and "JavaVMCheck_esES.prc.
- In the second download will be joining in the "Java_Tech_for_Garnet_WEME57/JVM/Simulator" and install the following files: "ams.prc", "j9keystore.prc", "J9Launcher.prc", "j9pref.prc", "j9secpol . prc "," PalmMidp20_22.prc "and" pref.prc.
- After having installed the files above, we proceed to insert the Java applications (games and other programs), taking the file extension. Jar (in case you do not have a similar extension. Jad) and put it on the open application JAD Maker (the third shock) to generate the file. jad is necessary.
- We entered the second download directory: "Java_Tech_for_Garnet_WEME57/Tools/bin /" and run the application "jartoprc_w, we selected where files are located. Jar and. Jad to install the application, then generate the file. Prc and installed it in our palm.
Note: All files must be installed in the internal memory of our palm.

Softick had read about the cache from which it came, seems to be particularly effective in the LifeDrive, I guess typically used when only 2 or 3 programs and they are cached.
