The Palm as a tool of the hacker (I): terminal emulators
"Palmer is an ideal platform for hacking tools and hacking in general." With this statement we started this series of articles in which we will see how to make the most of the tasks in Palm hacking at its option related to security and networking mainly. Quoting verbatim:
I believe that the potential of Palm security, hacking, networking and programming is undervalued. And I say this without even taking into account the huge potential of free software. Fyodor, the developer and maintainer of security software nmap, once said: "Nothing surpasses do penetration tests from the beach using a Palm and the Ricochet modem (or any other wireless device)." The Palm have many other advantages: small, economical, easy to conceal, and can take anywhere.
Before continuing, let me make it clear that was not the same hacker (expert in something related to computers and networks) cracker (person who violates a computer system, in order to benefit himself or hurt), and in fact in many pages are using the word incorrectly, to get more readers know about what is being discussed (going into machines that should not be accessed), which due to ignorance of the author.
To understand what an enjoyable way is a cracker, I recommend reading the book Takedown, which tells the persecution and finally arrest the famous cracker Kevin Mitnick by the hacker Tsutomu Shimomura.

Now that we know what is the subject, and we can imagine what kind of tools are we're going to see: software for Palm with everything that we need to transform our tool in Palm dreamed by a hacker (not necessarily cracker) . To use the software to do with this series of posts, it will be necessary for our Palm possesses access to networks. To do so we can use any of the methods we have already seen: using the data cable, Bluetooth connectivity, mobile GPRS, or simply a wifi network, and so on.
The first thing we will need if we work mostly with machines operating system family UNIX (Linux, BSD any, AIX ...) is a terminal program, ie a Telnet client or (SSH Telnet is but encryption to provide security to communication). Telnet is a protocol that allows us to access a system through an interface text mode (terminal). Those who have ever used the shell of windows, or MS-DOS (what memories), will know what is (rather know how it looks, because the text of these operating system is quite advanced and more powerful than MS - DOS).

SSH connected by a Powerbook from our Palm
As programs have several possibilities terminal. To telnet we pTelnet, and as long as we can is better to use SSH as SSH clients more variety: TuSSH (only for Palm less than 4), pssh (with support for SSH 2) and Top Gun SSH (only SSH 1) .

Catches of ptelnet and running tussh
If we do not have access to any server with Telnet or SSH activated, we can do our own testing with PC, installing a free SSH server as FreeSSHd in the case of using windows, or the ubiquitous OpenSSH if your machine is Linux or similar.

Using FreeSSHd Putty as a server and client in a single PC
In the next post in this series, we will continue the analysis software that will allow us to make our Palm the perfect tool hacking.

Just yesterday was reading an article about insecurities of Bluetooth, and I am wondering if this could serve the palm, it looks like almost everything can be done with it. Very good article, we will be outstanding.
Wow… I've left drooling awaiting the next delivery… I want more, I want more jejejeje
Greetings.
Patience
mmmmmm hacker cracker mm and my palm mmmmmmm bothering people orale well ke
know the subject. thank you for your great contribution Marcos hope soon the second part.
The truth is that when my Tungsten C had already tried some of these software to connect by SSH with the PDA and was very comfortable.
What a pity that my Treo does not have WiFi, it could still open the drive tray CD / DVD to my poor victims
Saludotes, Marcos!
I remember enter almost every day at my computer by SSH since college, when I was in some practice and on time, to bring the Gentoo to make a "emerge-UDV world." Doing so from the PDA had already been the height of friquismo.
