The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers
Continue to discover tools to turn the Palm on a hacking tool. Today we will see how to remotely access servers of different types:
- The king of the remote access graphics mode is VNC, the open standard compatible with Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc.. And the best VNC client for Palm is our PalmVNC 2.0, which already made a detailed analysis in due course.

Accessing the Windows Desktop using VNC
- For those who want to use Terminal Server or Remote Desktop on a Windows machine with this service installed, there is Mobile TS. Payment is, but you can download a demo version to test.
- Win-Hand Anywhere is a proprietary tool, but promises good results with ease of use: through any firewall you have installed on the network, work with any connection mode, either Bluetooth, WiFi, 1xRT, GPRS, USB, among others, run on any Palm with PalmOS 3.0 or higher and a PC with Windows 95 or higher, and so on.

Accessing the desktop of our PC from the Palm
- RemoteGin payment is another program that supports remote access to a Windows machine via the Internet. It is optimized for wifi networks and large screens.

Managing our palm from the desktop PC- For those who are thinking about using a Palm as an element of interaction with software in development, surely PalmPanel them useful. It is a framework for developing applications that can use the Palm as graphic terminal appliances and services based on GNU (Linux / BSD / etc). Palm is installed in a small 30Kb only client, the server, the framework allows to quickly and easily develop graphical interfaces in Python, using the Palm as thin client (thin-client) graphic terminal.

Example of running on the Palm application from a server- httpd for PalmOS is a small Web server (http). By default serves memos, contacts, calendar, documents, and a summary of the databases installed on your Palm.
- WirelessModem functions as a pseudo proxy server. It is a small application that lets you use the Treo as a wireless adapter wifi (for Palm with wifi) or wireless modem (for Palms with a data plan GSM / CDMA). Unfortunately it is no longer available on the developer page, so you have to get by other means.
- MPTP is an FTP server for our palm. The author was tired of the network HotSync it was so slow, so we developed this server to transfer files from your Palm quickly and easily.
- Finally, there is an FTP server named PalmFTPserver created by a fellow Palmero regular forums PDAEXPERTOS, PalmMultiServer which has evolved into an integrated FTP and HTTP server, which is of screenshots, although I found downloadable version.
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (I): terminal emulators
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (II): file transfer
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (III): Passwords
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (V): bluetooth, wifi and infrared
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VI): network analysis
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VII): telephony and phreaking
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (and VIII): security and encryption
Our Palm can not only be a client of these services installed on other computers, but can also function as a server.

PalmMultiServer acting as an FTP server on the PalmThere is more software for PalmOS associated with servers, but I think this collection gives an idea of what we can find, which is no small. In the next post will continue to see how to take full advantage of our Palm for hacking and networking tasks.
