The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers

We continue to discover tools to turn Palm into a hacking tool. Today we will see how to remotely access servers of different types:

  • The king of remote access mode figure is VNC, the open standard compatible with Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.. And the best customer for our Palm VNC is PalmVNC 2.0, which we did an in-depth analysis at the time.

  • For those who want to use Terminal Server or Remote Desktop on a Windows machine with this service installed, there Mobile TS. It's payment, but we can download a demo version to try it.
  • Win-Hand Anywhere is a proprietary tool, but promises good results with a great ease of use: cross any firewall you have installed on the network, work with any connection mode, either Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 1xRT, GPRS, USB, among others, run on any Palm with Palmer and a 3.0 or higher PC running Windows 95 or higher, and so on.

  • RemoteGin payment is another program that supports remote access to a Windows machine via the Internet. It is optimized for wifi networks and large screens.
  • PdaReach however does exactly the opposite: it allows use our Palm from the PC, showing an exact reproduction of it on the desktop, we can use normally.

  • For those who are planning to use a Palm as an element of interaction with a software development, surely PalmPanel find it useful. It is a framework for developing an application that allows you to use the Palm as graphic terminal appliances and services based on GNU (Linux / BSD / etc). In the Palm install a small client only 30Kb, in the framework allows the server quickly and easily develop graphical interfaces in Python, using the Palm as thin client (thin-client) terminal graph.

Our Palm can not only be a client of these services installed on other computers, but can also operate as a server.

    • httpd for Palm is a small Web server (http). By default serves memos, contacts, calendar, documents, and a summary of databases installed on the Palm.
    • WirelessModem serves as a pseudo proxy server. It is a small application that allows you to use the Treo as a wireless adapter wifi (for the Palm with wifi) or wireless modem (for Palms with a data plan GSM / CDMA). Unfortunately it is no longer available on page developer, which will need to be achieved by other means.
    • DTFM is an FTP server for our Palm. He was tired of the Hotsync by network was so slow, so we developed this server to transfer files from your Palm to quickly and easily.
    • Lastly, there is an FTP server called PalmFTPserver created by a fellow Palmero usual forums PDAExpertos, which has evolved into PalmMultiServer, an FTP server and HTTP integrated, of which there are screen shots, although I have not encountered version for download.

There is more software for Palm-related servers, but I think that this collection gives an idea of what we can find, that is not enough. In the next post will continue watching as to derive full benefit from our Palm tasks for hacking and networking.
