The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers
We continue to discover tools to turn the Palm into a hacking tool. Today we will see how to remotely access different types of servers:
- The king of the remote access mode chart is VNC, the open standard compatible with Windows, Linux, MacOS, and so on. And the best VNC client for Palm is our PalmVNC 2.0, which we did a thorough analysis at the time.

Accessing the Windows desktop via VNC
- For those who want to use Terminal Server or Remote Desktop on a Windows machine with this service installed, there Mobile TS. It is to pay, but you can download a demo version to try it.
- Win-Hand Anywhere is a proprietary tool, but promises good results with a great ease of use: traverse any firewall you have installed on the network, work with any connection mode, either Bluetooth, WiFi, 1xRT, GPRS, USB, among others, run on any Palm with Palm OS 3.0 or higher and a PC with Windows 95 or higher, and so on.

Accessing the desktop PC via our Palm
- RemoteGin is another payment program that supports remote access to a Windows machine via the Internet. Is optimized for wireless networks and large screens.
- PdaReach however does exactly the opposite: to use our Palm from the PC, showing an exact reproduction of it on the desktop, which can normally use.

Driving from our Palm's desktop PC
- For those who are planning to use a Palm as an element of interaction with a software development, surely PalmPanel them useful. It is a framework for developing an application that lets you use the Palm as a graphic terminal appliances and services based on GNU (Linux / BSD / etc). In the Palm install a small client-only 30Kb, in the framework allows the server quickly and easily develop graphical interfaces in Python, using the Palm as a thin client (thin-client) terminal chart.

Example applications running on the Palm from a server
- httpd for PalmOS is a small Web server (http). By default serves the memos, contacts, calendar, documents, and a summary of the databases installed on the Palm.
- WirelessModem functions as a pseudo proxy server. It is a small application that allows you to use the Treo as a wireless adapter wifi (for the Palm with wireless) modem or wireless (for Palms with a data plan GSM / CDMA). Unfortunately no longer be available on the homepage of the developer, which will need to be achieved by other means.
- DTFM is an FTP server for our Palm. He was tired of that network by the Hotsync it was so slow, so I developed this server to transfer files from your Palm to quickly and easily.
- Finally, there is an FTP server named PalmFTPserver created by a fellow Palmero usual forums PDAExpertos, which has evolved into PalmMultiServer, an integrated HTTP and FTP server, to which there are screen shots, but I have not found version to download.
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (I): terminal emulators
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (II): file transfer
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (III): Passwords
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (V): bluetooth, wifi and infrared
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VI): network analysis
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VII): telephony and phreaking
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (and VIII): security and encryption
Our Palm can not only be a client of these services are installed on other computers, but can also operate as a server.

PalmMultiServer acting as FTP server in the Palm
There is more software for Palm OS-related servers, but I think this collection gives an idea of what we can find that it is not uncommon. In the next post will continue watching the match to get all our tasks for Palm hacking and networking.
