The Palm as a tool of the hacker (V): bluetooth, wifi and infrared
Continuing the series of articles in which we are seeing how Palm can be the preferred tool of a hacker, having seen the tools for common tasks of networking, we will try techniques to detect network and make connections less conventional:
- For Palm with bluetooth, BtSerial Pro can connect to any Bluetooth device that supports the Bluetooth serial port service. This allows us to easily connect phones, sensors, etc.. On the same page we find BtSerial basic, but free, and BtServer that helps create the bluetooth serial port in master mode so that other Bluetooth devices to connect to it. For example, using a PDA and BtSerial in BtServer in another, we have a basic chat system for bluetooth.

Connecting through bluetooth with BtSerial
- Regarding the wifi network, provided that our Palm has integrated connectivity such as in the Lifedrive or TX, or we bought a wifi SD card, we use the tools that we saw in this other article on the subject: NetChaser, Wiffi, Wifi-where, etc, which will enable us to detect wifi networks in your surroundings without having to carry a laptop.

Detecting wifi networks with NetChaser
- For computers that have an infrared port (IrDA), we will be very useful utility Ping IR. This program allows you to check communications between a Palm and any other equipment with infrared port, such as printers, mobile phones or other PDA.

Analyzing an infrared connection
Finally, a curious use the infrared port is to use the Palm as a remote control car, though of course in the old models that used this type of connection because today all the controls work by radio frequency.

It is possible to emulate an infrared command with our Palm
Now we know how to connect our Palm on a network. In the next post in this series we will see all network analysis tools that exist for our Palm.
Posts in this series:
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (I): terminal emulators
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (II): file transfer
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (III): Passwords
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (IV) and remote access servers
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (V): bluetooth, wifi and infrared
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VI): network analysis
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (VII): telephony and phreaking
- The Palm as a tool of the hacker (and VIII): security and encryption
