First look at the applications included in the Palm Center
After leaving the sale of his brother, the Palm 550v (Windows Mobile), Palm users expect shortly the arrival of Palm Center. This Treo reduced in both size and price, it may be interesting for users who want a phone with all the power and simplicity of Palm, but unwilling to make a big outlay.

Palm Center, smartpone Palm for $ 100
Today, the principal technical characteristics of the Palm Center, as we see PDAExpertos are as follows:
- Operating system: Palm OS 5.4.9
- Microprocessor: a 312 MHz Intel PXA270
- Report: 128Mb (64MB available) RAM
- Display: 320x320 pixels (touch)
- Expansion: microSD
- Battery: Rechargeable Lithium (1.150mAh)
- Digital Camera: 1.3 megapixels.
- Infrared port (IrDA): Yes
- PC Connection: USB
- Bluetooth: 1.2
We can see these characteristics analyzed in great detail in some webs of gadgets. However, I find interesting to note the analysis in TamsPalm have done (using the emulator for Palm Centre which is already available on page Palm) operating system and applications that the Centre brings installed. In addition to the usual applications you already know from other Treo, include the following differences and developments:
- The application called My Centre (MyCentro): is the place where we can find the user manual, the database of aid, important updates, and free software. For example, at the time of analysis could be installed: Astraware Solitaire, Palm Files (v2), MobiTV (one channel) and Vox Mobile.

In MyCentro will have to download free software in our Palm
- VersaMail 4.0: has also changed. You can use the program while they receive emails in the background. To indicate a spinning wheel appears in the lower right corner. Record of activity shows the latest syncs mail. Finally, when there is a notification appears an icon shaped like a bell in the upper left corner, as in the Treo 680.

You can download e-mails from Gmail while we read a
- There are also changes in the menu preferences. The panel Energy has been amended. For its part the panel buttons tells us that can be linked to each button two tasks: one is activated by clicking on normally, and the other pulse while the control key. This allows twice as many shortcuts defined.

New energy management options and functions of the keys
- Unfortunately new applications Sudoku Instant Messaging and could not be tested because the emulator will be hung at boot. Other applications include the Centre are Google Mobile Maps, Documents to Go Professional Edition and Pocket Tunes Deluxe 10.
To compare the applications of the Centre with those of his brothers, they are the leading installed versions:
- My Center 1.2
- Activation 1.0
- ActivityLog 1.0
- BFViewer 4.64
- Bluetooth 3.3A
- Calc 1.01
- 1.34 Calendar
- Camcorder 1.0
- Camera 3,531
- CardInfo 2.0
- Contacts 1.34
- DocumentsToGo 10.0
- Email (VersaMail) 4.01
- FAT32 549.0
- Instant Messaging 1.3.71S
- Memos 1.33
- Messaging 2.7
- Phone 2.5
- Pics & Video (Media) 3.5.4.2
- Player (Kinoma embedded) 1.0.4.2
- Power 1.2.4
- Sudoku 1.35PGA1
- Tasks 1.33
- Web (Blazer) 4.58
- World Clock 2.02
The Palm Center will be available shortly in its CDMA version. Yet there is evidence that there is also a GSM version. The opinion of those who have tested is summarized in the following points:
- It is smaller and lighter than the Treo, but also your keyboard, making it more difficult to use.
- The 1.3-megapixel camera not noted for its resolution, but the quality of the photos seem to be quite good, as was the case with the Treo.
- Its touch screen is an advantage over other smartphones like the BlackBerry Pearl.
- His appearance is cheaper than for example the Treo 755p, but includes all programs that brings it even more. We can therefore expect all the usual benefits of Palmer oriented mobile phones.
For more details of the Centre, I recommend reading this analysis of C-Net. And to compare their appearance with the current Treo, you can visit this gallery of images.
What do you think of the new Centre? If you really reaches the market the equivalent of $ 100, do you you see ahead? Do you buy it?

It would be interesting to be able to exploit some of these updates to fix known problems of our palm older models, such as problems with memory cards, bluetooth Tfnos against some models, etc..
has already been done before so do not take to see evidence of users.
We buy without hesitation! Would be a little brother to my T | X, never wanted a Treo, but to see the Centre, simply stayed impressed, I like the size and the applications that it brings, (besides the color, I will choose red), and I think it has supported for more than 4GB SD… Simply excellent!
Without a doubt is the best investment in Palm this year, be a big success in this $ 100 device.
greetings
I see that there are good vibes on the Centre. The truth is that I too have that desire to live to see it arrives.
If you throw in GPRS mode, it would be excellent, and would have major service providers, Is it true that it plans to launch a version of GPRS Center?
I scheduled a trip to Mexico so you do not mind me retire my cellphone in exchange for veteran buys a "little brother" to my palm Tx. I had my doubts but it is very very good pint. Let's see if once and seek to improve the operating system instead folded the pocket pc. I love the palm system and we agree that all palmeros (as they are maqueros and linuxeros of theirs).
Very true, I love Palm OS, I love its simplicity, not to do many operations to achieve something, is nothing complicated and learn it is very simple and intuitive, I think it surpasses WM in the efficient management of resources and not wasted in "adornitos" simple, efficient and useful, what more can you ask for?
