First look at the applications included in the Palm Center
Following the departure to sale of his brother, the Palm 550v (Windows Mobile), Palm OS users will soon expect the arrival of the Palm Center. This Treo reduced in both size and price, it may be interesting for users who want a phone with all the power and simplicity of the PalmOS, but do not want to make a major outlay.

Palm Center, the smartpone with PalmOS for $ 100
Today, the principal technical characteristics of the Palm Center, as we see PDAExpertos, are as follows:
- Operating System: Palm OS 5.4.9
- Microprocessor: Intel PXA270 312 Mhz
- Memory: 128Mb (64MB available) of RAM

- Battery: Rechargeable lithium (1.150mAh)
- Digital Camera: 1.3 megapixels.

We can see these features discussed in great detail in some webs of gadgets. However, I find interesting analysis contained TamsPalm have done (using the emulator for Palm Centro is already available on the Palm) operating system and applications that the Center brings installed. In addition to the usual applications you already know from other Treo There are differences and highlight the following developments:
- The application called My Center (MyCentro): This is the place where we can find the user manual, the data base of support, important updates, and free software. For example, at the time of analysis could be installed: Astraware Solitaire, Palm Files (v2), MobiTV (only one channel) and Vox Mobile.

In MyCentro will have to download free software in our Palm
- VersaMail 4.0 has also changed. You can use the program while receiving emails in the background. To indicate this, a spinning wheel appears in the lower right corner. The activity log shows the latest synchronizations mail. Finally, there is a notification when an icon shaped like a bell in the upper left corner, as in the Treo 680.

We can download emails from Gmail while we read a
- There are also changes in the menu preferences. The Energy panel has been changed. For its part the panel buttons tells us that two tasks can be associated with each button activates a tapping normally, the other tapping at the same time that the control key. This allows twice as many shortcuts defined.

New options for energy management and functions of the keys
- Unfortunately the new applications Sudoku and Instant Messaging could not be proved, because the emulator will be hung at startup. Other applications include the Center are Google Mobile Maps, Documents to Go Professional Edition 10, Pocket Tunes Deluxe.
In order to compare the applications of the Center with those of their brethren, these are the versions they have installed:
- My Center 1.2

- BFViewer 4.64
- Bluetooth 3.3A

The Palm Centro will be available shortly in its CDMA version. But there is evidence that there is also a GSM version. The opinion of those who tried summarized in the following points:
- Is smaller and lighter than the Treo, but also your keyboard, making it more difficult to use.
- The 1.3-megapixel camera is not noted for its resolution, but the quality of the photos appears to be quite good, as was the case with the Treo.
- Its touch screen is an advantage over other smartphones like the BlackBerry Pearl.
- His appearance is cheaper than that of for example the Treo 755p, but includes all the programs that brings it even more. We can therefore expect all the usual benefits of Palm OS-oriented mobile phones.
For more details of the Center, I recommend reading this analysis of C-Net. And to compare its appearance with that of the current Treo, you can visit this gallery of pictures.
What do you think of the new Center? If you really get to the market the equivalent of $ 100, Did you see the future? Would you buy it?

It would be interesting to be able to exploit some of these patches to fix known problems of our palm older models, such as problems with memory cards, bluetooth against some models of Tel, and so on.
has been done before so I did not take to see evidence of users.
We buy without a doubt!, Would be a little brother for my T | X, never wanted a Treo, but to see the center simply was impressed, I like the size and the applications that it brings, (besides the color, I choose the red), and I think we have supported for more than 4GB SD ... just excellent!
Without a doubt the best investment of Palm this year, will be a success this device in 100 dollars.
greetings
I see that there are good vibes about the Center. The truth is that I also feel like I have to get to see it live.
If you throw in GPRS mode, it would be excellent, and would have major service providers, Is it true that it plans to launch a version of GPRS Center?
I have scheduled a trip to Mexico so I'm not my mind to retire in exchange for veteran mobile buy a little brother ¨ ¨ my palm Tx. I had my doubts but it is very very good looking. Let's see if once and try to improve the operating system rather than join the pocket pc. I love the system from palm and we agree that all the island (just like you are the maqueros and Linux users from yours).
Very true, I love Palm OS, I love its simplicity, not to do many operations to achieve something, is nothing complicated to learn and is very simple and intuitive, I believe it surpasses WM in the efficient management of resources and not wasted in "adornitos", simple, effective and useful, what more can you ask for?
