How to record sound with the highest quality with Palm
Some like the Palm Treo, LifeDrive, or even T5 or TX with an external microphone can record audio without much problem, using the program recorder sounds that Palm provides, Voice Notes. However, this program is designed only to record voice, and to further address the resulting file as little as possible: uses a sampling frequency of telephone conversation (ie very low quality) and a compression format at a loss.

The Palm can do very well the role of sound recorder
However, the quality of the Palm of Microphone is quite good at the hardware level, so it's a penalty miss when we write something with more fidelity, for example to make a podcast or an interview. And the programs available for recording audio quality over the Palm are all pay, and also expensive. This is what we thought the creator of the Better Recorder, a free program to record audio through the microphone integrated the Palm.
Better Recorder recorded audio RAW format, without any compression. In other words, PCM 16-bit 44100 Hz, as a CD. Like CDs, which store 650MB in 74 minutes, the resulting file will be very big. In fact half of that in a large CD, as recorded in mono rather than stereo (hardware does not allow stereo recording). The sampling rate can be reduced if we need to create smaller files or simply our PDA is not fast enough to store the recording data as generated (the solution may be to buy a high-speed SD card).
The program is very easy to use: simply choose the sampling frequency of a list, and start and stop recording by pressing a button that appears on the program window, or by pressing any of the physical buttons of the Palm. During the recording will get two graphics will be drawn where the shape of the wave. Fixed in these drawings we can know when we are saturating the microphone and therefore we must remove the Palm Source to prevent degradation of sound quality: the sound is saturating the microphone when the wave touched the top of the chart, ie is more intense than the maximum value that the microphone is capable of recording, so the wave will be cut by up, and then produce new frequencies that distort the sound.

The overdrive is a useful effect in the techno music but not in a tape recorder
The recordings are saved in WAV format in the folder / records / SD card. Every time I start a recording, it creates a new file. The program does not include a player WAV for simplicity, but any audio player that we have installed can play without problems, for example The Core Pocket Media Player.
As I said before, Better Recorder is free, so it can be downloaded from its web SourceForge both the program itself as the source.

So I use in my pro-par treo but I will try to see that this may, thanks for the tip.
Precisely was looking for something like this, a taste leerte again, friend
An equally happy to have around here again, I hope that everything will go well, Leo.
Excellent post Marcos… I got a microphone very tiny rescued from a Bluetooth device… so that can make the mod's internal microphone, once I buy a ColdHeat that is more accurate for welds.
So I hope soon to comment that this is the program to comment on a TX. Greetings.
Excellent, TX now also as sound recorder. It told us
hello I have a Palm TX and I would like to know whether the recorder works with my tx? and if possible to convert mp3 recorded. and because my tx restarts alone? I am always on the agenda whine hack without this program is very annoying to use the palm by the buzz.
greetings
q I think you're brilliant by all articles published thanks for make life easier for us like palm q
Hello, the first thing thank your effort and advice throughout this blog.
After commenting on a problem that has arisen me using the BR and have not managed to solve: If I try to burn a meeting, turn on the palm and start BR, until there everything perfect. But when the LD is autoapaga recording is interrupted, turning to restart to turn it on again, it is impossible to record portions of more than 3 minutes without having to be "playing" with it constantly, which is not always possible during the meetings.
Someone has solved this problem?
Hello, I was going to ask something similar to what he said… mud. I tried multiple recorders, but none to continue recording with the palm off…. one which serves to find one that functionality?
