Now your favorite Palmer / Garnet operating in the Nokia Nseries
Today I was surprised, rather happy, read the opinion fportillo, skilled in all kinds of pocket computers that works in the blog Serantes. Fate has made use of new equipment with Palmer, notably a TX. And his view is this:
Every time I go back to Palmer I realize the tremendous benefits of this operating system and incorporates comprehensive tools. The incredible Doc2Go remains of the best tools to work with Office documents and to view there is nothing like the Picsel Proview, which joined the Picsel Browser turns the Palm into a tool tremendously productive, not to mention its magnificent possibilities of sync with any system, including WiFi, despite the fact that Microsoft did not say that it will implement in its ActiveSync for being unsafe.
Programs simple, productive and effective. Systems stable and functional. After all, efficiency. That is what we ask him to a PDA that is working and which gives Palmer. That's what I admire this system and that I do not find in other, perhaps because we are animals habits.
The existing software for Palm, the result of years of existence of this excellent platform, is a quality and quantity overwhelming, as we see every day on this blog. It would be a pity, and a bad decision, thrown away all these programs. And something people ACCESS knows very well: as developers ACCESS Linux Platform (ALP), the new operating system that will replace Palmer, incorporated into him a VM to be able to run applications developed for the ancient but effective operating system. The novelty, however, is that it does not have been there.

A Nokia N810 virtual machine running the Palm OS Garnet
In alliance with Nokia (thanks for the comment chusquete), have created a version of this virtual machine for products of N-series, namely the Nokia N810, N800 Nokia and Nokia N770. Nokia of good software you need to populate their teams to take the necessary host of the public, and ALP needs that the public comes into contact with Garnet, Palm, or as we like to call it, so that your platform ALP has the necessary critical mass at launch . That's because although I have no doubt that much software for ALP appears, at first most of the software that we install in new equipment will be the existing Palm for Palm.
Garnet VM Nokia Nseries enables users to run thousands of Garnet OS (formerly Palm OS ®) applications. Garnet VM supports some of the most popular applications in the mobile market including, Google Maps ™, Snappermail ®, DateBk5 and perennially popular games like Bejeweled ®, Pacman and Sudoku. Choose from a wide variety of application types including, document processors, database managers, messaging, enhanced PIMs, life management tools, and more.
On page ACCESS dedicated to this virtual machine Garnet OS for Nseries can see more, as a list of some of the applications already fully supported:

- Games: Bejeweled, Pacman, Raging Thunder, Village SIM.

Bejeweled, the popular game, Palm OS, a Nokia N810
The characteristics of this virtual machine are as follows:
- Integrated applications: Address, Date Book, Memo Pad, Calculator.
- Requirements: 3.5MB of RAM for the executable and 16MB of RAM for storage (configuration between 1MB and 32MB).
- The launcher allows installation / uninstallation of applications, settings for application compatibility (memory, resolution, computer model to emulate), configuration of storage space available to emulate, configuration screen (rotating screen, wallpaper).
- General characteristics: input area with handwriting recognition graffiti 1, networks (TCP / IP), synchronization hotsync, multilingual (English, French, Italian, German and Spanish).

Setting the size of memory and wallpaper

You can also choose the memory heap and model to emulate
More information is available at on this virtual machine in the white paper that ACCESS has published, as well as some notes on their use in the FAQs page.
A very good news for every day he regretted the demise of Palmer and fear that ALP is only in an attempt to something big. I hope that ACCESS continue forming alliances to challenge Microsoft and its Windows Mobile, as competition is something that we will always benificiar us, users.

Received. Very good news for owners of new platforms complain that the small amount of programs available for the above (that is to say what the blackberris). I love palm (this only happens also to maqueros ¨ ¨) and I hope to continue many years and that when the mine with Linux can enjoy an emulator to take advantage of my programs
There are so many programs in Palm needs as varied, I do not think that all appear to come from other operating systems. If by chance you use one of these programs "specific" these emulators are a real lifesaver.
Does Alliance with Nokia? A note and see if it makes drivers to link all models of Nokia, because my nokia 6021 and my Tungsten E2 means a fatal bluetooth!
