Let the lemmings invade your Palm
We know how to play our flagship Palm to many PC games: Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem, SimCity ... let's add one more to the list, also one of the most addictive: Lemmings. For younger people, who may not know, let's see what Wikipedia says about this game:
Lemmings is a game for the Commodore Amiga computer, developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis in 1990.
The game is between the puzzle and strategy in real time, and is controlling some units (lemmings) leading them through various obstacles (cliffs, walls, mountains ...) and with the aim of reaching a final position. These units are trained to perform a series of activities, among which are the building stairs, blocking the passage to other lemmings, parachuting, etc.. They also have the option of suicide (presumably to the event that either can not finish the game having lost too many lemmings).

The immortal and first level of Lemmings
Lemmings caused a furor when it was launched, and is known worldwide. What many people may not know is what is really a lemming, and what really has some fame of "suicide":
A lemming is a rodent that lives in the tundra, the taiga and arctic meadows in the North American continent, and in some regions of Eurasia, which feeds mainly on grass, roots and fruits. Their reproductive cycle is characterized by relatively short, which coupled with the high fertility of the female population explosions occur frequently in the species, offset in part by the actions of predators and food shortages at certain times. This mammal is building tunnels and shafts, which serve as a den and storage for food supplies.
There is a myth that lemmings commit suicide en masse as part of a self-regulatory mechanism of nature. However, such a thing is not substantiated and it is considered that these deaths occur accidentally due to genetic imprinting that owns this rodent, which determines their sense of direction during migration. Its biological instinct leads him to move consistently in one direction or specific route that is independent of the topological and climatic changes that may occur in the ecosystem naturally or by human hands. This sometimes leads to situations in which groups of lemmings rushing invariablemete into a river, a cliff or any other accident on the ground.
The Disney documentary White Wilderness, Oscar winner, contributed significantly to maintain this myth.
Ever since the original Lemmings, the saga has not only grown, and in fact has come down to us as it has done even a version for Sony PSP.
The Lemmings for Palm version faithfully recreates the original PC. You can control both the stylus and the directional pad, color or monochrome screen supports, sound effects and background music, and even memory card to store levels.

Some catches of the version of Lemmings for PalmOS
On the download page where you can get off the Lemmings for Palm, inform us that any Palm with PalmOS 3.1 or higher, and 16-color display can run the program. Therefore not supported by the following teams: Tapwave Zodiac, Pilot 1000, Pilot 5000, Palm Personal, Palm Professional and IBM Workpad 10U. But any fairly recent Palm will execute it without problems.
This program is free to download, and brings the initial levels included. But if we play all the levels that exist for Lemmings will have to buy them.
For what they have been awakened nostalgic, or simply just discovered this game, I recommend the very comprehensive page Lemmings Universe, where you can find everything about Lemmings: tutorials, level codes to go directly to the level we want, downloads, and to images made by fans. And few games created so many addicts as Lemmings. It's time to rediscover your Palm.
