MyUAE, Amiga emulator for Palm

The amount of existing emulators for Palm is certainly impressive. We have already seen through these programs may play in our Palm games Sega and Nintendo game consoles, or use the PDA as a scientific calculator HP high-end. But there are many more platforms emulators historically famous, as we saw in this extensive list of emulators for Palm. And one of these platforms is Amiga.

Amiga is a family of personal computers developed by Amiga Corporation. The development of the Amiga began in 1982, and Commodore International introduced the machine on the market in 1985 after buying Amiga Corporation. Curiously, the developers chose the name "Amiga" precisely because the Spanish word (female companion).

The code name in what would be the first Amiga 1000 was "Lorraine", a microprocessor with Motorola MC68000 at 7.14 MHz, 768Kb of RAM (expandable to a maximum of 8 MB) and 256Kb ROM. The machines chipset own capabilities with advanced audio and video, and an operating system pre-emptive conmultitarea (now known as AMIGA).

Although the processor motorola is 32 bits, the first Amiga models used a bus external 16-bit, so it was considered a 16-bit machine as the Atari ST. Models later Amiga, based on more modern processors 68k, or even PowerPC, they were 32 bits.

Amiga was a great leap forward from 8-bit computers, for example, the Commodore 64, and quickly became popular, mainly in Europe. It was used prominently in tasks related to video and vision control business, being a cheaper alternative to the PC and Macintosh at the time.

When Commodore went bankrupt in 1994, there were still a very active community Amiga, which continued to bear the platform long after that leave the main sellers. The Amiga's most popular magazine, Amiga Format, continued to publish editions until 2000, 6 years after the demise of Commodore. Interest in the platform is still good enough to hold a specialist weekly column in the British magazine Micro Mart.

Currently there is sufficient demand in hardware expansion Amiga as they exist for some SMALL manufacturers in business. After desparición Commodore, many companies have continued selling new models Amiga. Currently, Eyetech Amiga hardware sells under the brand AmigaOne.

The success of the Amiga was such that characters like Andy Warhol or Steven Spielberg used them for their creations. Series like Babylon 5, SeaQuest DSV or Max Headroom had their special effects equipment thanks to Amiga.

There are many websites dedicated to the Amiga, because there are still many users of these teams that likely await the launch of new equipment and 4.0 AMIGA Amiga. For example we can highlight Amiga.org, AmigaWorld and Spanish Amiga Zone, where in addition to other content, you can download all games for Amiga Spaniards.

Both lovers of this platform, as those who have never tried one and want to investigate, they can compensate for the lack of one of these machines using the emulators WinUAE or WinFellow. But what interests us today is that there is an excellent emulator for Palm Amiga, MyUAE, creators of the versions of Quake, Doom and Duke Nukem 3D for Palm.

MyUAE admits support for keyboard, mouse and joystick virtual, can record and restore, and has sound (though this is an aspect that is being upgraded). Need Palmer 5.x (ARM processor) and a lot of dynamic memory (UDMH). It has been successfully tested on the Tungsten T3, Zodiac 1 and Zodiac 2.

We can see the AMIGA running on a Palm in these videos that a user has recorded and uploaded to YouTube:

In another video that teaches us how even haconfigurado the UDMH and MyUAE for everything to work perfectly. We can also see the virtual keyboard, which is just like an Amiga:

It is certainly quite an achievement to run software written for the Amiga on a PC, so make it work on a Palm is something really incredible. Do not lose this chance to prove it.
