Support for SDHC memory cards for PalmOS, up to 32GB
Wonderful news for those who want to take your Palm to the maximum potential: it can be used in some models of Palm SDHC memory cards, the technology used by some 4Gb SD cards and all the higher-capacity (32GB to 8Gb). This wonder is possible, once again, thanks to the tremendous ability to Dimitry Grinberg.

At last SDHC cards up to 32GB, compatible with PalmOS
MrAnderson it says on his blog:
Via TamsPalm and BrightHand I find out that Dmitry Grinberg has released the final version of its SDHC drivers for PalmOS, called PowerSDHC, which were previously in beta.
The utility has a value of USD $ 20.95, and the devices are currently supported Tungsten T | C, Tungsten E2, Tungsten T5, LifeDrive, Palm TX, Zire 31 and Zire 72. Support for the Tapwave Zodiac, Garmin iQue and Tungsten T3 is developing and will be launched soon.
I was particularly surprised that my beloved Tungsten E2, which can not even 2Gb card, is capable of using SDHC 8Gb or more. Especially given that the restriction was due to hardware, or at least to that conclusion had been reached.
Tam Hanna of TamsPalm has found the proper functioning of the application in TX, T5 and Zire72, using a card from Transcend 8Gb SDHC. Tam reported that none of the teams had problems, although the T5 and Zire72 could not read the card formatted with the FAT32 file system natively, so you had to install the driver FAT32 also programmed by Dmitry.
Because these Palm were never designed to use a card sizes, there is a small bug that was that, in implementing management of the SD card from the Palm, appears poorly total capacity of over 4Gb SDHC . It is merely cosmetic and does not affect the use of the card. However, to solve this problem, we can use the program CardSize, also of Dimitry.
It is interesting to note that this driver not only allows the use of a card size that the native Palm can not handle, but with the SD cards of all life, the performance of reading and writing is also greater than with the original drivers, that is The Palm faster read and write standard SD cards.

Finally, on the same page we can see a comparison of the speed of reading and writing of an SD card and SDHC drivers with Dimitry in both cases. We can verify that the SDHC cards are faster than the SD, that is, this new technology in addition to allowing storage sizes larger than SD card allows faster.

No doubt this is great news for owners of a Palm phone or PDA with PalmOS, who do not want to throw your computer simply because the SD card they have been small. You can download a trial version of these drivers on the page Dimitry, and thus test its compatibility with any Palm SD card and, in particular.

UAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and how much it costs ESA MEMEORIA PESOS IN SUN?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT WELL
This is the last barrier collapsed to the PDA's with PALM OS is the best video player and portable mp3: the storage capacity!!
This coupled with the solid-state memory is more secure than the small and fragile hard drive iPods gives new life to our Palm OS PDA
Very good news
Of course. The theme of the SDHC is something that could itself be a major handicap for Palm, but overcome this limitation, PalmOS ecelente remains an option.
I've seen movies and heard a lot of music in my E2, which is not the most powerful team with PalmOS precisely, and I was always very satisfied with their performance.
I thought that going to the dark side, then now I buy for my 16 SDHC tx
@ thecrow, I do not want to be alarmist but the site of Dmitry there is a warning to the driver on a possible error reading the cards of high capacity.
We will have to wait on everything we do have in mind that what might be losing are not 1000Mbs or 2Gbs but more than 15GBs or up to 32!
The driver is still a wonderful story, but I would expect a little more!
Palm should leave as a free code and that any company should continue developing the OS. And get a new team for any reasonable sum.
Does anyone know if this utility works on a treo 650?
