Try Android on your phone easily HTC Windows Mobile
All users of Windows Mobile has come to our attention the emergence of Android, Google's operating system for smartphones. Its development is rapid and seems to be turning slowly into a convenient option.
At the hardware level there are not many differences between the requirements to run Windows Mobile and to run Android. Moreover, by blatant example is the HTC Touch HTC Touch Cruise 2 and 2, both Windows Mobile, and HTC Tattoo Android operating system, have exactly the same hardware features: Processor Qualcomm ® MSM7225 ™ at 528MHz, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, TFT-LCD 2.8 "QVGA, 1100 mAh battery, and 3.2MP camera ...
So it was only a matter of time that appears ways to run on other computers HTC Android not originally supported. And one of them is to use the draft Wing Linux. This project initially got run Android on the HTC Wing T-Mobile, but currently works on other processor based equipment OMAP850.

HTC Wing was the first running Android
These teams, and the state of compatibility with each of them, are:
- HTC Herald, T-Mobile Wing, HTC P4350
- HTC Wizard, HTC Prodigy HTC P4300
- HTC Gene, HTC P3400
- HTC Prophet, Qtek S200
- HTC Touch Viva, HTC Opal
- HTC Elf, HTC Elfin
- HTC Artemis, HTC P3300
- HTC Excalibur, HTC S620, T-Mobile Dash
- Asus P320, Galaxy Mini
- HTC Pharos, HTC P4370

HTC P3300 Artemis Android running through linux Wing
Installation is easy and safe: everything is copied to the microSD card, so the Windows Mobile operating system is not affected in any case. Android To exit and return to Windows Mobile simply rebooting the phone. Furthermore it is installing CAB files, so you can uninstall cleanly.
To install simply must download, copy to your Windows Mobile, and run, two files CAB. The first is common to all teams, and for example to the current version 0.4pre4 is called wing-0.4pre4-linux-rootfs.cab. The second is specific to each model, for example for my P3300 (Artemis) I downloaded the file wing-0.4pre4-linux-artemis.cab. Both must be installed on the storage card, internal memory not because if they will not work. Once installed both, we will have an icon called Wing Linux on the Start Menu. Just execute it and follow the instructions. For more details of this process you can consult the INSTALL file.
The first time you run Linux Wing asked us the size of the partition, ie the space of microSD card that we will let you use Android. The recommended size is 250Mb. Then proceed to create the partition, which takes a long time. Wing On Linux subsequent executions of this step will not happen.
You can see the project page some videos showing how it really works. For example, in this video is a HTC Touch running Android:
It is important to note that this is an earlier version in development, so that the functionality is very limited: you can make calls, but no sound, and connect to Internet via GPRS, bluetooth even on some computers. But for example the wifi does not work. In each team's situation is different, so it is advisable to check the list of links above.
Wing If you find problems running Linux, review the documentation, the forums and the list of FAQs, where information is very useful. Happy hacking!
Published: in my P3300 default apparently not chosen well refresh the screen, and displays an image that moves very quickly. I did it solve by adding the text "heraldlcd = screen: 1" on line "cmdline" file "default.txt", as explained in the page dedicated to Linux Wing timing screen. Now the funny detail is that the screen is inverted horizontally, if I tap on the left, the element that is activated is the right, etc.. has to wait for new versions.

Great! This would give a little more life to my HTC, but on the other hand, this holiday season ends my stay with Movistar, and Vodafone and Orange both have some with android htc printing.
A greeting!
The outlook is populating Android daily, with the Droid X10, Motorola and Sony-Ericsson. I think they still are very good teams coming to Android.
Thank you very much, for everything ...
I'm trying to install, but I have the problem of screen refresh ....
I added the line you mention, but not solved.
I have a 3300.
Well ... I do not know whether to keep trying, if we can not even call ....
Anyway, it's a good step forward ...
One question, what have our mobile limitation, for not wishing to get android on them as normal?
Is it just a matter of sales?
Thank you very much, again ...
Hi Fernando,
Yes, I too am dismayed to see that the screen refresh was wrong and everything looked bad, but simply to add the parameter 'heraldlcd = screen: 1' in the middle of the line CMDLINE, as a parameter more, I run perfectly.
Do not expect many features, I think you can call removing the PIN code of the SIM card, but little else. It's just a matter of drivers: no Linux drivers for the wifi module, bluetooth, etc, of our P3300. Google / HTC only made drivers for models that will make Android, like Magic or Hero. The opensource community is that if anyone is interested, you should make these drivers for older PCs, which is not trivial.
No Android for our phones, on the one hand they do not have enough power to move smoothly. But mainly because if they are teams that have already been sold with Windows Mobile, there is no interest in Porto Android, they will not get any money from it. Moreover, could delay the we buy new computers that do have Android. That is why for example there is no official Windows 6.5 for the P3300 and the like.
A greeting.
Well Yes sir, thank you very much,
Look how he had tried with lots of cab, so edit the line in the txt the cañaaa
Thanks
